Echolocation in Action
Grades: 4+
Duration: 30 minutes
Materials: Blindfold
OSO alignment: Students are introduced to the boat’s radar system. Radar works similarly to echolocation—an example of biomimicry. When the radio signal comes in contact with a solid object, it bounces, or echoes, back to the boat.
NGSS performance expectation: 4-LS1-2. Use a model to describe that animals receive different types of information through their senses, process the information in their brain, and respond to the information in different ways.
